Pay Simulator Results Field Definitions

The following table defines each field displayed on the Pay Check Simulator Results page.

Field Description

Wages

Gross Wages

This field displays the total gross wages for this simulated pay. A breakdown by pay type displays below the Gross Wages heading.

Federal Taxable Earnings

This field displays the taxable earnings for this simulated pay.

Taxes

This field displays the taxes withheld from this simulated pay. A breakdown by tax displays below the Taxes heading: Social Security, Medicare, Federal Tax Withheld, and State Tax Withheld.

Benefits

This field displays the total benefits for this simulated pay. A benefit breakdown displays below the Deductions heading.

Deductions

This field displays the total deductions for this simulated pay. A deduction breakdown displays below the Deductions heading.

The calculation results include all deductions withheld from the employee's normal pay, ignoring any limits placed on one or more of the deductions defined for the employee. For example, if your state requires your employer to withhold a certain percentage of your pay for a special program (e.g. disability), and the amount withheld may not exceed $500, your employer places a limit on that deduction in your electronic deduction record. When the payroll simulator calculates your modified pay based on the entered changes, the simulator includes this percentage in the calculated pay amount even if a limit is defined.

Net Pay

This field displays the simulated net pay, calculated as follows: Gross Wages - Taxes - Deductions

Deduction Breakdown

This field displays the total deductions for this simulated pay. A breakdown by deduction type displays below the Deductions heading: Tax Deferred, Section 125, Taxes, and Other.

Withholdings

Federal

This field displays the Federal tax deduction for this simulated pay. The Federal withholding criteria display below the Federal heading.

State

This field displays the State tax deduction for this simulated pay. The State withholding criteria display below the State heading.
