Use the Leave Requests page to submit a leave request. When adding a leave request refer to the Leave Statistics area at the top of the page to verify the amount of leave available and pending, the request lead days, request historic dates, and minimum leave duration.
Refer to the General Information area at the top of the page for additional instructions or a message from the LINQ EP administrator.
The Current Leaves grid displays previously submitted leave requests that are still pending that overlap the leave request dates entered.
The Leave Statistics area displays the employee's current leave totals for the Leave Type selected on the request.

Description |
Leave Available |
This field displays the leave available amount from the to the employee leaves table in Alio. |
Pending Leave |
This field displays the leave requested in LINQ EP but not finalized (not posted) plus any leave awaiting posting in Alio HRS. |
Leave Balance |
This field displays the amount of leave available to the employee for the leave request, calculated using this formula: Leave Available - Pending Leave. The Balances as of [Day of Week Month Day, Year] displays the date the leave balance was last updated. |
Request Lead Days |
This field displays the lead time required when making the request. For example, you may be required to request professional leave 30 days in advance and personal time 14 days in advance. |
Request Historic Days |
This field displays the number of days in which you must enter your past leave request, if your organization allows its employees to submit leave requests after the specific leave type is taken. If this field is set to zero, you must enter a leave request prior to taking the actual leave. |
Minimum Duration |
This field displays the minimum amount of Daily leave or Hourly leave the employee can request. For example, if requesting vacation leave, the employee may be required to request a minimum amount of vacation days (half-day, full day, etc.). For personal time, the employee may be required to submit a request for a minimum of two hours. |
Instructions |
This field displays the the instructions provided by the organization for the selected leave type. For example: “You must enter your time in .25 day increments or 2 hour increments.” |
Note |
The note displays the following note “Balance as of [Current Day of the Week, Date]. |
When the Start Date and End Date are entered for the pending leave request, the Current Leaves grid displays previously entered leave requests that overlap the dates entered for the new leave request, if applicable. For example, if you request three days of vacation leave starting on 9/01/2017 and ending on 9/03/2017; and you previously entered a leave request for Jury Duty for 9/03/2017, the Jury Duty leave request will display in the grid. Use this grid to prevent entry of duplicate leave requests.
This grid remains blank if there are no leave requests that overlap the entered dates.

This column displays the type of leave request that overlaps the dates of the new leave request. |
Leave Dates |
This column displays the dates for the overlapping leave request. |
Duration |
This column displays the length of the overlapping leave request. |
Dock |
This column shows the dock duration associated with this leave record, if the leave type is flagged to dock pay when leave is exhausted. For example, if the employee has 2 sick days accrued and takes three, the leave details would show -2 for the leave duration and -1 for the dock duration. |
Status |
This column displays the status of the overlapping leave request. |
Follow these steps to submit an hourly leave request for approval. Refer to the Instructions for more information.
On the Leave Summary page, click the Request Leave Changes link. The Leave Requests page displays.
Click the New Request link.
The message displayed in the General Information area is entered by the LINQ EP administrator. This message may change so it is important to read the message each time you make a request. |
In the Start
Date field, click the Show
Calendar button to select the date this
leave will begin; or type the date in mmddyyyy format. The date defaults
to today's date. This field is required.
You must take into account the Request Lead Days when entering your Start Date. Your Start Date must be greater than or equal to the current date plus the Request Lead Days value. |
In the End
Date field, click the Show
Calendar button
to select the date this leave will end; or type the date in mmddyyyy
format. The date defaults to today's date. If changed, it must be
greater than the Start Date.
If applicable, the Current Leaves grid displays other leave requests previously submitted that have one or more dates that overlap the current leave request.
In the Leave
Type field, click the Drop
Down List button
to select the type of requested leave. You will see only leave types
that you are permitted to use in this list.
The Leave Types list displays all leave types available to the employee for selection. The list displays all leave types assigned to the employee in Alio as well as any leave type defined in Alio as auto setup (e.g., Jury duty, Bereavement, etc.). Leave types defined in Alio as auto setup are formatted with Blue text. Leave types not completely set up in LINQ EP, e.g., not assigned an approval hierarchy, are formatted in Red text. When a leave type formatted with Red text is selected, a message will display explaining the problem that exists for that leave type. Your LINQ EP system administrator can use this message to troubleshoot the issue with that leave type. |

If an active job record does not exist, the following message will display: "Could not find any valid jobs for the employee." This message typically displays when you submit a leave request with a date that falls outside your current active job contract. Contact your internal help desk or LINQ EP administrator for assistance.
In the Duration in Hours field, type the number of hours that you are requesting.
Your requested hours must meet or exceed the Minimum Duration value. |
If this is a Partial
Day leave request, type the Start
Time and End Time for
the request. Click the Drop Down
List button
to indicate the time of day, either AM
or PM.
Your Start Date and End Date must be the same if entering a partial day leave request. It must also equal or exceed the Minimum Duration specified in the Leave Statistics area. |
In the Comments area, type comments to the approver about this request. You can enter a maximum of 36 alphanumeric characters.
Click to select one of the following options:
E-mail me each step of the approval process radio button to receive an e-mail notification each time the request is approved.
E-mail me only on the final step of the approval process radio button to receive an e-mail notification only when your request receives final approval.
Do not e-mail me about this request radio button to not receive any e-mail notification about the approval status of your request.
Click the
button to submit your request. If the E-mail
me each step of the approval process radio button is selected,
you will receive an automated e-mail that contains the request details
and its current status (pending).
If the Duration in Hours
value exceeds your available leave balance, the message "The
Duration you entered exceeds your Leave Balance. Is this OK?"
displays. Click the |
The request is automatically routed to the first approver in the approval chain.

By default, the Duration in Days value may not exceed the difference between the leave request Start Date and End Date. However, your organization has the option to allow its employees to enter a Duration in Days value that exceeds the difference between the leave request Start and End dates, if applicable to your organization's business practice.
