Setting the Account Preferences

Use the Accounts tab to define the items listed in the Account Preference Settings table.

To update the Account Preferences page:

  1. Click the Preferences link on the Admin Home page to display the System Settings page.

  2. On the System Settings page, click the Accounts tab.

  3. Define the account preferences based on your organization's business practices. Refer to the Account Preference Settings table for more information.

  4. Click the button to save the account preference settings. The message "Account Preference Settings Updated" displays.

  5. Click the button to close the dialog box.

Using LDAP

Click to select the LDAP check box to check user authentication against the LDAP server when the employee log into the LINQ Employee Portal. You should select the check box only if your organization uses LDAP.

If your organization uses LDAP authentication, the Current Password field displays on the Create New Account page instead of the Password and Confirm Password fields.

Leave this check box clear if your organization does not use LDAP authentication.

LDAP Domain

This field displays only when the Using LDAP check box is selected.

Type the IP address or host name of the target server.

Leave this field blank if your organization does not use LDAP authentication.

LDAP Type

This field displays only when the Using LDAP check box is selected.

Click the Drop Down List button to select the appropriate option from the list: MS Active Directory or Novell eDirectory.

If Novell eDirectory is selected, the LDAP Proxy Settings display.

Note: The LDAP Use Proxy flag is automatically set when the Novell eDirectory is selected. This field is hidden and not available to the administrator user.

Leave this field blank if your organization does not use LDAP authentication.

LDAP Combine User & Domain For Authentication

This field displays only when the Using LDAP check box is selected.

Click to select this check box to enable LDAP authentication to use the user’s name and concatenate on @domain.

This check box is not selected.

LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses/LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses

These fields display only when the Using LDAP check box is selected.

Use the LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses list to identify the employee status codes that will bypass LDAP authentication when a user logs into LINQ EP. Instead, the login process will verify the user name and password against the LINQ EP user name and password stored in the LINQ EP database.

Use the LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses list to identify the employee status codes that must pass through the LDAP validation process before accessing LINQ EP.

To move an employment status to the LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses list:

  1. In the LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses list, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and click each employment status allowed to bypass LDAP authentication.

  2. Click the Left Arrow button to move the selected employment statuses to the LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses list.

  3. Click the button.  The message "Account Preference Settings Updated" displays.

  4. Click the button to close the dialog box.

To move an employment status to the LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses list:

  1. In the LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses list, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and click each employment status required to use LDAP authentication.

  2. Click the Right Arrow button to move the selected employment statuses to the LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses list.

  3. Click the button. The message "Account Preference Settings Updated" displays.

  4. Click the button to close the dialog box.

LINQ EP Authentication Employment Statuses list is blank.

LDAP Authentication Employment Statuses list lists the employment status codes defined in Alio.

Allow User Name Retrieval

Click to select this check box to allow users to request their user name. The "Forgot your username?" message will display on the Sign In to LINQ Employee Portal page.

Leave this check box blank to not allow users to request their user name (default). The "Forgot your username?" message will not display on the Sign In to LINQ Employee Portal page.

The Allow User Name Retrieval option is not available if the Using LDAP check box is selected.

This check box is not selected.

Allow Employee to Change Email

Click to select this check box to grant permission to employees to change their LINQ EP E-mail Address on the Account page.

Leave this check box blank to not allow employees to change their LINQ EP E-mail Address on the Account page.

This check box is selected.

Hide Create an Account Link

Click to select this check box to hide the Create an Account link on the LINQ EP Login page, which will prevent a user from creating an LINQ EP account.

This check box is not selected.

Allow Account Creation for Inactive/Terminated Employees

Click to select this check box to grant permission to employees with an inactive or terminated status in Alio to create an LINQ EP account.

This check box is selected.

Password Expiration Days

Type the number of days a user's password is valid. At the end of the defined period, a prompt displays informing the user that their password has expired and must be changed.

Note: If LDAP is implemented, the Password Expiration Days process applies only to users that access LINQ EP that do not use LDAP to log in to LINQ EP, e.g., users no longer employed by the district that still require access to LINQ EP.

Type a zero (0) to disable this feature.

Personal Question Attempts

Type the number of times a user can attempt to answer a personal question. The user is locked out of LINQ EP when the user exceeds this number.

Login Attempts

Type the number of times a user can attempt to log in to LINQ Employee Portal. The user is locked out of LINQ EP when the user exceeds this number.

Type a zero (0) to disable this feature.

Lockout Time in Hours

Type the number of hours a user is locked out of LINQ Employee Portal after a failed login or personal question attempt.

Type a zero (0) to indefinitely lock the user account. The user will need to submit a request to the administrator to unlock the account.

New Account Instructions

Type instructions to display on the Create New Account page. Misspelled words are automatically underlined with a wavy red line. Right-click a misspelled word to display correct spelling options.

You can also type the instructions in another word processing tool, and then cut and paste those instructions in to the New Account Instructions text box.
