Use the Pay Check Simulator > Change tax withholdings section to modify your current federal and/or state tax withholding deductions to see how those modifications will impact your pay.
Follow these steps to change your federal withholding deduction to calculate the impact those changes will have on your pay.
On the Pay Check Calendar page, click the Pay Check Simulator link to display the Pay Check Simulator.
In the Effective Date field, click the Calendar button to select a date from the Calendar popup. Your federal and state withholding records in effect on that date will display. This field defaults to the current date.
If necessary, click the
Expand a section button
to expand the Change tax withholdings
section. The federal and state tax withholding records active on the
effective date display.
In the Federal section, you can change the following values.
Field | Description |
Marital Status | Click the List of Values button to change your current marital status. |
Exemptions | Type the number of exemptions to be claimed on your federal taxes. |
Additional Amount | Type the federal tax dollar amount to be withheld from your pay in addition to your standard federal tax deductions. |
In the State section, you can change the following values.

Description |
Click the List of Values button to change the state for which taxes are withheld. |
Plan |
Click the List of Values button to change the plan associated with the state tax deduction. |
Exemptions 1 |
Type the number of exemptions claims for federal/state tax purposes. |
Exemptions 2 |
Type an additional number of exemptions this employee claims for federal/state tax purposes. |
Additional Amount |
Type the state tax dollar amount to be withheld from your pay in addition to your standard state tax deductions. |
Click the
button to view the calculated pay results in the Pay
Check Simulator Results page.
Click the button
when finished reviewing the simulated pay results.
Follow these steps to add a state tax withholding record. For example, if you move to a different state than the state where you work, you can add an additional state tax record.
On the Pay Check Calendar page, click the Pay Check Simulator link to display the Pay Check Simulator.
In the Effective Date field, click the Calendar button to select a date from the Calendar popup. Your federal and state withholding records in effect on that date will display. This field defaults to the current date.
If necessary, click the
Expand a section button
to expand the Change tax withholdings
section.
In the State
section, click the button to insert a blank line.
Enter the following fields.

Click the
button to view the calculated pay results in the Pay

Follow these steps to remove a state withholding record.
On the Pay Check Calendar page, click the Pay Check Simulator link to display the Pay Check Simulator.
In the Effective Date field, click the Calendar button to select a date from the Calendar popup. Your federal and state withholding records in effect on that date will display. This field defaults to the current date.
If necessary, click the
Expand a section button
to expand the Change tax withholdings
section.
Click the Remove
button . The state withholding
record is removed from the State section.
Click the
button to view the calculated pay results in the Pay
Check Simulator Results page.
Click the button
when finished reviewing the simulated pay results.
