Editing Leave Types

Click a Leave Type link to change a leave type displayed in the Leave Types grid. Use the edit option to:

The administrator can also delete a leave type from the grid, if there are no pending leave requests for that leave type.

Changing a Leave Type

Follow these steps to activate or inactivate a leave type.

  1. Click the Request Setup link on the Admin Home page.

  2. Click the Request Type Drop Down List button and  select Leaves from the list. The Leave Request Setup page appears.

  3. In the Leave Types grid, click the Edit button that corresponds to the leave type to be changed. The Edit Leave Type page appears.

  4. To activate an inactive leave type, click to select the Active check box.

To inactivate an active leave type, click to clear the Active check box. The employee can select only leave types with an active status when entering a leave request.

  1. In the Request Lead Days field, change the number of days prior to the leave start date that the employee must submit the leave request. You must enter a whole number (99); partial days are not valid.

  2. In the Request Historic Days field, change the maximum number of days an employee can submit a leave request after leave has been taken. Use this field to allow employees to submit historic leave requests. The maximum value allowed is 999 days. The default is 0 days.

  3. Click to select the Non-Productive Time check box if this type of leave is considered non-productive work time for use in Time Entry. Click the clear this check box if non-productive time does not apply to this leave type.

  4. Click to select the Tracking Leave check box if this leave type is a tracking leave. Click to clear this check box if this leave type is not a tracking leave.

Tracking leaves are not accrued but they are recorded in Alio. Examples of tracking leaves include jury duty, military leave, and family medical leave (FMLA).

  1. In the Minimum Days Allowed field, change the minimum number of days the employee may request for this type of leave, if this is a Daily leave. You can enter the minimum days with two decimal positions (99.99).

If this is an Hourly leave, make sure this field is set to zero (0).

  1. Click to select the Restrict to Minimum Day Increments check box to allow an employee to request this type of leave only in increments of the value entered in the Minimum Days Allowed field. For example, if .25 is entered as the minimum, employees can enter .25, .5, or .75 but not .3.

Click to clear this check box to allow the employee to enter any daily increment.

  1. In the Minimum Hours Allowed field, change the minimum number of hours the employee may request for this type of leave, if this is an Hourly leave. You can enter the hours with two decimal positions (99.99).

If this is an Daily leave, make sure this field is set to zero (0).

  1. Click to select the Restrict to Minimum Hour Increments check box to allow an employee to request this type of leave type only in increments of the value entered in Minimum Hours Allowed field. For example, if .25 is entered as the minimum, employees can enter .25, .5, or .75 but not .3.

Click to clear this check box to allow the employee to enter any hourly increment.

  1. In the Employee Instructions area, change the instructions that you want the employee to follow when requesting a leave of absence for this type of leave.

  2. Click the button to save the deduction group.

Deleting a Leave Type

Follow these steps to delete a leave type. The administrator can only delete a leave type that is not attached to a pending leave request.

To delete a leave type:

  1. Click the Request Setup link on the Admin Home page.

  2. Click the Request Type Drop Down List button and  select Leaves from the list. The Request Setup – Leaves page appears.

  3. In the Leave Types grid, click the Delete button that corresponds to the leave type to be deleted. The message "Leave type deleted" displays.

  4. Click the button to confirm the delete operation. The Leave Type is removed from the Leave Types grid.
