Allocating Comp Time and Paid Overtime

You can allocate earned overtime to Comp Time and/or Paid Overtime if the Overtime Option setting assigned to your primary Time Reporting Group (TRG) is equal to one of the Comp Time Overtime options. The Comp Time Overtime options are implemented only if your organization allows its employees to earn Comp Time in place of Paid Overtime.

When your assigned primary TRG is set to allow you to earn Comp Time in place of Paid Overtime, you can select one of these options when submitting a time entry request:

Overtime is calculated based on your organization's business rules when you enter your time on the time entry request and the totals displayed in the Comp Time and Paid OT columns of the Time Entry Totals grid on the Time Request Entry form.

To allocate Comp Time and Paid Overtime:

  1. In the Time Entry Totals grid on the Time Entry Request page, click the Edit button that corresponds to the time entry record with earned overtime (Total OT is not equal to zero). The Edit Overtime page appears with the Total OT value displayed in one of these fields:

  1. Optionally, allocate the Total OT value to the Comp Hrs and Paid OT fields. For example, if the Total OT is 4 hours, you could distribute 2 hours to the Comp Time field and 2 hours to Paid OT field.

Important: You must type the colon (:) to separate the hours from the minutes.

  1. When finished allocating the Total OT value, click the Save button to update the time entry request record. The message "Overtime Updated Successfully" displays.

  2. Click the button to close the message and return to the Time Entry Request page. The Comp Hrs and Paid OT values for the selected time entry record are updated in the Time Entry Totals grid.

  3. Click the button to save the time entry request.
