Following is an example of an approval hierarchy for employee leave requests. In this example, the organization requires two levels of approval for an employee leave request, with one approval group assigned to each level:
the school principal or the principal's administrative assistance is responsible for approving or denying leave requests for all employees that work in the school; and
the Human Resources Manager or the HR manager's administrative assistant is responsible for approving or denying the employee’s request based on the employee’s accrued leave.
You can use any number sequence to assign the approval levels. In this example, we used increments of 10.
Approval Group |
Approver |
Level |
100 |
Principal or Administrative Assistant |
10 |
200 |
HR Manager or HR Administrative Assistant |
20 |
When an employee submits a leave request, the principal or the administrative assistant is responsible for approving or denying that request.
If the request is approved, the HR manager or HR administrative assistant is also responsible for approving the request. As an administrator, the HR Manager or HR administrative assistant must also ensure that the employee data being uploaded to Alio is in the correct format.
The following illustration shows how to configure this type of approval chain.
