Multiple Approval Groups Per Approval Level

Following is an example of an approval hierarchy for employee vacation leave requests. In this example, the organization requires two approvers for the first level of approval for an employee vacation leave request, with two approval groups assigned to that level. The remaining levels require one approver per level to approve or deny the employee request.

You can use any number sequence to assign the approval levels. In this example, we used increments of 10.

Request Group

Approver

Level

100

Principal or Administrative Assistant

10

100

Vice Principal or Administrative Assistant

200

HR Manager or Administrative Assistant

300

HR Manager or System Administrator

When an employee submits a leave request, the principal or the principal's administrative assistant and the vice principal or vice principal's administrative assistant are responsible for approving or denying that request.

If the request is approved, the HR manager or HR manger's administrative assistant is responsible for approving or denying the request at the next level.

If the request is approved at the second level, the HR Manager or the System Administrator are responsible for final approval of the request. As the administrator, the HR Manager or System Administrator are also required to ensure that the employee data being uploaded to Alio is in the correct format.

The following illustration shows how to configure this type of approval chain.
